Tenant Advisors

We have recruited a group of independent, volunteer tenant advisors. It includes tenants of local authorities and registered social landlords. It is one of the ways we hear from tenants and service users so that we focus on the things that matter most to them.

About Tenant Advisors

Our Tenant Advisors bring tenants into the heart of our regulation of social landlords. Their feedback provides us with a tenant perspective to add to the other regulatory evidence we gather.

Tenant Advisors may help us with our work by:

  • testing landlord services by acting as mystery shoppers, assessing information and materials produced by landlords for their tenants
  • reviewing our draft publications and website facilities, and helping us to make sure our material is both accessible and user friendly for tenants
  • asking other service users for their views when we assess the quality of service provided by social landlords to give us a direct, user perspective to add to other regulatory evidence.

You can see an example of the work our Tenant Advisors did to review landlords Annual Assurance Statements as part of our thematic review of social landlords’ Annual Assurance Statements.

We recruited to the role in early 2022, and current TA’s will be in place from 1 April 2022 for a period of three years. You can read the information pack for applicants here.
