We are engaging with Lanarkshire about its tenant and resident safety.
In April 2025 Lanarkshire identified an issue with cladding on some of its homes. Lanarkshire commissioned Fire Risk Assessments of External Walls (FRAEWs) for two of its buildings which have now completed and made a number of recommendations. Lanarkshire has developed action plans to implement the recommendations. A Single Building Assessment (SBA) was carried out for one of the buildings to determine whether any further remediation was required. There were a number of recommendations made and Lanarkshire have been working through these actions and updating us as progress is made. Lanarkshire notified us when they first identified the issue and has been engaging with us openly and constructively throughout.
What Lanarkshire must do
Lanarkshire must send us monthly updates on progress with its plans to address its tenant and resident safety issues.
What we will do
We will review progress with the plans to address tenant and resident safety issues and engage as necessary.
Regulatory Returns
Lanarkshire must provide us with the following annual regulatory returns and alert us to notifiable events as appropriate:
- Annual Assurance Statement;
- audited financial statements and external auditor’s management letter;
- loan portfolio return;
- five year financial projections; and
- Annual Return on the Charter.
It should also notify us of any material changes to its Annual Assurance Statement, and any tenant and resident safety matter which has been reported to or is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive or reports from regulatory or statutory authorities or insurance providers, relating to safety concerns.
