Why we are engaging with North Glasgow Housing Association Ltd (North Glasgow)
We are engaging with North Glasgow about its governance.
We assessed in May 2024 that North Glasgow did not meet regulatory requirements including the Standards of Governance and Financial Management (the Standards). North Glasgow has worked openly and constructively with us to deliver the necessary improvements in its governance and approach to tenant and resident safety to achieve compliance. It has now completed this work and provided us with assurance that it is meeting regulatory requirements including the Standards.
North Glasgow made some improvements to its Board structure in 2025 and it plans to review the effectiveness of these changes in 2026. It has also identified some improvement actions to complete on its approach to succession planning. We are engaging with North Glasgow to get assurance as it completes its remaining improvement actions.
What North Glasgow must do
North Glasgow must:
- provide us with quarterly updates about its progress in completing the remaining improvement actions.
What we will do
We will:
- consider the updates on progress in completing the remaining improvement actions and liaise as necessary; and
- update our published engagement plan in the light of any material change to our planned engagement with North Glasgow.
Regulatory Returns
North Glasgow must provide us with the following annual regulatory returns and alerts us to notifiable events as appropriate:
- Annual Assurance Statement;
- audited financial statements and external auditor’s management letter;
- loan portfolio return;
- five year financial projections; and
- Annual Return on the Charter.
It should also notify us of any material changes to its Annual Assurance Statement, and any tenant and resident safety matter which has been reported to or is being investigated by the Health and Safety Executive or reports from regulatory or statutory authorities or insurance providers, relating to safety concerns.
